LBG takes its name from the London Benchmarking Group. Established in 1994, the group was formed by six companies, coordinated by Corporate Citizenship, to create a common standard for measuring community investment.

Over a quarter century later, the LBG Framework is embedded into global indices such as DJSI with around 1,000 companies using it. In that time, the LBG Network has grown from the original six companies to around 180.

Today, the framework is and will remain the elite and defacto standard for measurement of business-led community activities and social impact. As a network that is managed by businesses, for businesses, LBG will continue to lead and shape the way businesses deliver impact in the future. The recent expansion of the LBG Framework to include Business Innovation for Impact and Procurement for Social Impact, two new methodologies developed in conjunction with over 20 leading and global businesses, is driving new and existing LBG Members to produce further-reaching impact whilst delivering significant business returns.

LBG is the fundamental tool for strategic decisions on community investment providing the base for defining priority areas and budget allocations.
