Deloitte - The Deloitte Employability Initiative

The firm's flagship and award-winning community programme helps give young people the skills, attitudes and behaviours they need to secure and sustain employment. The Deloitte employability course is delivered by Deloitte-trained teachers at more than 70 further education colleges.

Company investment:

Cash £195,000 and employee time £128,166 in 2007. Combined input to 2011 is £2m cash and £700k employee time.

Programme achievements:

In 2007/08 more than 1,200 students attended Deloitte employability courses. 147 FE College teachers were trained and, together with the existing 64 teachers, they will deliver courses to up to 6,000 young people. More than 200 Deloitte people volunteered during the year, with more than 90% stating an increase in business skills and 99% stating they would recommend volunteering on the initiative to colleagues. £600,600 was leveraged from other sources as a result of Deloitte’s investment. It is expected that by 2011 more than 40,000 young people will have completed courses delivered by 800 trained teachers and that more than 1,500 Deloitte employees will have taken part.

This volume concentrates on the ‘input’ side of the LBG model to help users assess the totality of their investment into the community. It provides an introduction to the core concepts of the model giving guidance on a range of specific measurement issues.
